“I have no man, Sir, when the water is stirred, I don’t have anybody to put me in the pool.  By the time I get there, somebody else is already in.” (John 5:7-The Message). The paralyzed man, who was at the Pool of Bethesda, had been waiting for a miraculous intervention for 38 long years. He was waiting for someone to put him into this miraculous pool so he could be healed. However, somebody else kept getting into the pool before him and their needs were being met instead of his.  It seemed he couldn’t catch a break.  Maybe this is how you have felt at times.  Yet, we learn from this story that God won’t leave us without hope for a miraculous intervention, even when it seems our miracle is far away.

Notice again the man’s response to Jesus.  He said, “I have no man…to put me in the pool.” (KJV)  He was looking toward some natural person or solution to lead him to his miracle. This is where the supernatural intervention of God comes in. When it seems like nothing in the natural is working and a miraculous intervention is the only answer.

When Jesus came along, he sidestepped the obvious and simply asked him if he wanted to be made well.  He never even referenced the pool. He just said, “Wilt thou be made whole?”  (John 5:6)   Jesus wanted the man to take his eyes off the obvious or potential solutions around him, and look to Jesus for his help. The man’s response of “I have no man, sir” is often how we respond. The answer the man gave was not what Jesus was asking. Jesus was asking if he wanted a miraculous intervention! Similar to this man, we often keep looking for some natural means to get our answer and this is what often hinders us from receiving miraculous intervention.

Jesus also wasn’t moved by how long the man had been in that condition. Perhaps your situation has gone on longer than you expected, but if we want our situation to change we must not lose hope because nothing seems to be happening. When Jesus came, everything changed in a moment. No matter how long your struggle has been, never stop expecting a miracle because one can happen at any moment.

We must always keep ourselves in a place of expectancy. A miracle isn’t based on how long you have been in your situation, nor is it limited to the natural solutions before you. With God all things are possible!  He heals the blind, the lame, and the diseased.  He parts the waters, walks on water, and multiplies bread to satisfy the hungry.  He causes the sun to stand still and turns back time.  He is a supernatural God, so expect miraculous intervention in your situation. Rise up and declare that you expect that! Always believe that at ANY MOMENT a miraculous intervention will occur!
